What to Eat This Week

It was tasteless. My friend ordered the expresso gelato and it was excellent. Thank you to our server Roland for being forthright and accommodating to our many questions. He was delightful. Thank you for your review. We apologize it was not an overall amazing experience but are glad Roland was able to assist.

Thank you again for this honest review. While we were staying at the del Lago on both ends of a trip to Niagara Falls, we stopped in the Portico to get a drink a pick up some dinner to go. My wife is a fan of Fabio from his Top Chef appearance, and we were glad to try some of his dishes. Both were very good.

Both were excellent, but I prefer the Truffle Shrimp. Unfortunately, like many restaurants, they seem to go blank if you order something to go. Despite those problems, I will definitely dine there on my next pass through.. I may try ordering at the table and then asking to take it home, but that always seems like such a waste of energy and dirty dishes if we plan to take it to go anyway, plus it unnecessarily ties us and dirties a table..

We apologize that the to-go service was not up to par with our in-house dining experience. We will pass this message on to management to improve upon. We are glad you enjoyed your meals and look forward to seeing you again soon! Stayed two nights at Del Lago for the first time ever this week and wanted to try this restaurant.

After a long day I was hoping to just bring a meal back to my room to enjoy.

I checked to see if this was possible and both women at the hostess station seemed puzzled by my request. Luckily, the manager I assume , was nearby and told me this was no problem and directed me toward the bar. At the bar, I was greeted by Kelly. She took my drink order and offered up the menu, taking the food to go order as well.

Kelly took the time to introduce herself and explained to me about future items coming to the menu, including nose to tail cuts and the impressive tomahawk steak that I had noticed at another table! My order included the Shrimps Oreganata.. Plump shrimp cooked perfectly with bread crumbs and such flavor!! It was a meal all on its own! The charred octopus.. Delicious, but maybe too charred, still exceptional and meaty. Also had the chicken piccata, very good! Kelly also hooked me up with a bread assortment, delicious!

I don't know if its house made or not but the roll, baguette and bread was delicious with the butter and red sauce spreads! Everything was charged to my room with ease, but I am definitely coming back with friends and family to dine in-house! I am definitely recommending Portico to everyone I know! You can make it into any shape you desire. If you make rigatoni, it would taste awesome in this Spicy Chicken Riggies dish! When you make your next pasta dish, I highly encourage you to try making your own pasta and see what a difference it makes.

For the Trabocchis, Family Time Comes in the Kitchen

Thanks to Fabio for reminding me to go the homemade route again as it had been far too long. This pasta is best if eaten the day it is made! Serve these Crock pot Italian Meatballs over your pasta and call it meal! This pasta will make any dish taste extra good. Dump in HALF of the flour and pulse until the eggs absorb it which will create somewhat of a thick paste.

Add the remaining flour and have the food processor spin continuously vs. When the dough is ready, it will form a ball-shaped mass of flour and eggs. If the dough is still too wet to the touch and very sticky, add extra flour - 1 tablespoon at a time so you don't end up with too much. If it seems too dry, add a small amount of water, as needed. If you aren't using right away, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and place it in the fridge for up to days. This sounds great. I made pasta once in a cooking class and it was time-consuming with a lot of kneading involved.

This process is totally my speed. And I also love pasta — wish I could have it every day! I love this recipe though! It looks so super easy! Would I just knead all of the ingredients together instead? Yes you can knead it by hand! Do you have a Kitchenaid mixer with a hook attachment?
